Volunteering with us

Skills Required: Volunteering with Samata is an opportunity to make a difference to the lives of tribal people.
Staying in the Tribal Villages: Many volunteers describe this as the most enjoyable and rewarding part of their placement. Volunteers stay with local villagers and are fully immersed into village life. Volunteers need to be aware that facilities are basic; most villages do not have access to sewage systems or electricity.

Working in the Office: Samata’s headquarters are located in the Maharanipeta, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India. There are also number of rooms having internet access, dining and reception room, a kitchen and bathrooms.

Time: A volunteer placement does not need to be restricted by limited time. Samata can accommodate short term placements of 1-3 months, but prefers volunteers to stay for long term placements for over 6 months as this will provide the volunteer an opportunity to work in an adivasi village and to gain a deep understanding of the problems affecting the tribal community.

Funding: Samata does not fund travel to India, however travel whilst working with Samata such as field trips and conference visits will be funded by the Samata. Simple shared accommodation with nominal charges can be provided, but if more luxurious surroundings are required, volunteers can stay inexpensively in one of the nearby guesthouses or hotels.

During field visits basic accommodation is provided. Food is provided on a working day.Send your resume to aasamata@gmail.com and cc to samataindia@gmail.com
